We invite you to participate in EU-Ukraine Partnership Information Day "HORIZON 2020 and R&D&I in Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials" which will be held in Warsaw at the Institute of High Pressure Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences on 23 September 2013.

The Information Day is supported by the FP7 project START (http://www.start.ism.kiev.ua) «Boosting EU-Ukraine cooperation in the field of Superhard Materials», the project coordinator – ISM, project partner – UNIPRESS.
•To present the structure and main features of the new EU funding program for research and innovation HORIZON 2020, including role and place of the thematic priority "Nanotechnologies, advanced materials and new production technologies“ in the program.
•To inform the research and industrial communities in EU and Ukraine about the START project outcome;
•To present EU-Ukraine collaboration opportunities under HORIZON 2020 in the Nanotechnology and advanced materials areas.
•To discuss how to create common international projects with SMEs and research institutions.
The format of the Information Day:
•Presentations of representatives of project START,
•Useful information from the FP7 NCPs (Poland and Ukraine),
•Presentations of scientific and technological and project potential of the Info Day's participants,
•Discussion of joint action plan on preparation of project proposals to the program HORIZON 2020.

The V.N. Bakul Institute for Superhard Materials (ISM) was established in Kiev in 1961 on the basis of the Central Technological Bureau of carbide tools and its pilot plant with the aim to develop a process of commercial synthesis of diamond and other superhard materials (SHM) and tools made of them. Since then it has been transformed to a leading research institute in the field of Superhard Materials and its highly qualified scientific personnel, developed a wide range of fixtures and arrays with operating range of pressures from 5 up to 20 GPa and temperatures from 500 to 3.000K, and scientific equipment, including among others a tunnel microscope, spectrometry. The institute intellectual property is compounded by 125 monographies, more than 7 thousand scientific articles and more than 3 thousand authorship certificates and patents, 198 of which are received over the last 5 years. The institute concludes and executes 20 license agreements.
The aim of the ISM Research Strategy 2020 is a long-term development and updating of the ISM in accordance with the European requirements and standards.
